What to bring with you on an OzXposure tour
If your tour includes camping nights you will need to bring a sleeping bag - a 3-4 season bag is recommended. We provide thermal sleeping mats, but encourge you to bring your own self inflating sleeping mat for added comfort.
In Northern Queensland and around Darwin the weather can be very humid in the wet summer season (October - April) so we recommend you bring a sheet sleeping bag as well as your three season sleeping bag, with plenty of insect repellent and sun lotion.
Prior to your departure, we will e-mail you a copy of our "Trek Tips" document which will provide you a list of suggested items you may want to bring on your tour. Of course an enthusiastic, fun loving attitude is always welcome! For more information see our Pre-Tour Info section.

Camping with OzXposure
Don't worry... we make it easy! Most of our first timers actually grow to love sleeping in the great outdoors. You will sleep in high quality, heavy duty four person tents which you share with only one other trekker of the same sex. We provide all passengers with a thermal sleeping mat. For those passengers who want added comfort, you can bring your own self-inflatable air mattress.

What facilities will be available on an OzXposure tour
Campgrounds situated in stunning natural settings give our groups opportunities not found by conventional tourists. Although they may vary significantly in terms of quality and service most national park campgrounds have basic facilities including, pay showers and flush toilets. Where we choose to stay in more isolated areas or bush camps (indicated by BC in the itinerary) the surroundings will quickly make you forget any lack of facilities. On some of our more adventurous tours we enjoy the unique experience of sleeping outdoors in swags, (a mattress and sleeping bag enclosed in a canvas bag). Camping with OzXposure is easy and fun... you'll love it!

Fitness on OzXposure tours
Although our vehicles do most of the work, in many cases the last few kilometres are covered by foot. A certain amount of fitness is required to hike into the spectacular gorges and other places of interest. Since fitness levels are hard to gauge, we ask only that you be active, healthy, and have a desire to be outdoors. We require you to notify us at the time of booking of any medical conditions that may affect you during the course of your tour.

How much money should I take on an OzXposure tour
On most of our tours we include many of the main activities in your trek price, more inclusions than any other adventure company in Australia. We also give you the freedom to choose additional activities. Take advantage of great group
discounts that we have negotiated for you.
We recommend a minimum of AUD/NZD $60-$70 spending money a day which should cover restaurant meals, souvenirs, nights out, some of the optional activities and your food kitty. Everybody has different tastes; some spend a lot more, others spend a lot less than this suggested amount so please use it as a guide only.
Visa and MasterCard are accepted in most places and Automated Teller Machines are widely available. Travellers Cheques can be hard to change and most banks charge a fee. If you do bring Travellers Cheques only bring AUD and NZ dollars as foreign exchange facilities are sometimes limited.

How much luggage can I take on an OzXposure tour
Your luggage will either be carried in a trailer behind the vehicle or on the vehicle itself and on the majority of our tours you're able to bring a medium sized suitcase, soft rucksack or duffel bag up to a maximum of 20kg in weight.
There is a weight restriction of 15kg on all our Western Australian tours, as well as the 4WD Red Centre Safari, Inner OZ and Territory In-Depth tours. No suitcases are allowed on these tours and we recommend you bring a rucksack or duffel bag together with a small day pack.

When do OzXposure trips begin and end
Most tours depart from our gateway hotels between 06:00 and 7:30am on the departure morning and generally end between 5:00 and 6:00 pm on the final day of the tour. Check your tickets for the excat departure time and point of your tour.
For your convenience, we suggest that you spend the final evening in our gateway hotel. If you must leave that evening, we recommend that you book a flight departing no earlier than 9:00pm to allow for possible delays on tour.

How do I reserve a hotel room the night before and after my OzXposure tour
We can offer discounted rates on pre and post tour accommodation. These 'gateway' hotels are conveniently located in each of our departure and arrival cities. Rooms are based on twin share as most passengers prefer to stay with other tour participants at an affordable price - it's also a great opportunity to make friends with your fellow travellers.
Reservations at our gateway hotels can be made on the booking form by indicating the nights you require ( max. 1 night before and 1 night after in all gateway hotels).

Do I need a visa to travel to Australia and/or New Zealand
You should check exact visa requirements within your home country. UK passport holders do not normally need a special visa for stays in Australia or New Zeland under three months as long as you are holding a machine readable passport. Almost all of our UK passengers are able to take advantage of the AUS Visa Waiver Scheme whereby you may complete a visa waiver form upon arrival. Visa waiver forms are normally distributed by airlines either at check-in or during flights to Australia.
